Grey Knight Updates

Posted by William Durall on Saturday, May 7, 2011, In : Warhammer 40K
It's been a while since I last posted, as Narceron has reminded me repeatedly over the last few days.  I have been working on a few Grey Knight figures.  Its slow going, but I am trying to get the done kinda right.  Nothing is completely finished yet, but a few are almost there.  Take a look.

The Throne of Judgement, Inquisitor Karamazov:

This model has been interesting to put together and to paint.  Way to many purity seals if you ask me, which you seldom do...lol.  I'm mostly done with this o...

Update; getting ready for Grey Knights

Posted by William Durall on Thursday, March 31, 2011, In : Warhammer 40K
I've been pretty stoked about the Grey Knights.  The models are looking awful sweet and the codex sounds like it is heaped with tons of muenster, so on par with most of the armies out there.  Although there seems to be some distinct disadvantages with the army as a whole, I believe they will be able to hold their own against most any army.

I've been working on a handful of models I've had laying around for a few years while waiting for the Grey Knights to release.  I've got the Throne of Judge...

Battle For February

Posted by William Durall on Sunday, February 27, 2011, In : Warhammer 40K
This is a little late coming, but sometimes it takes a while to rejoice in such a victorious battle.

This month Proteus' united Chaos front went head to head with the dastardly tomb dwelling Necrons.  My opponent Narceron played a well stratagized battle, but alas his forces were not up to snuff.  He came to the board with 2 twenty man warrior squads, a 3 man squad of heavy destroyers and a 2 man squad of heavy destroyers, 2 Necron Lords (one coward in their building with 20 of his "best" warr...

Iron Warriors Land Raider

Posted by William Durall on Sunday, February 13, 2011, In : Warhammer 40K
This is my landraider.  Sadly its not finished after all these years.  It has been beat up a bit and needs some touch up, plus it would be nice to be able find out where I put the tracks for it.  I had planned on shaving the imperial eagles off of them, but never got around to it.

The top isn't attached.  I supposed I had planned on doing something on the inside.  However the front doors are sealed as are the side doors.  After looking closely I think when this is done I might want to ge...

Chaos Rising....again!!

Posted by William Durall on Saturday, February 12, 2011, In : Warhammer 40K
Back in 3rd/4th edition I played Iron Warriors.  And being able to use a fourth heavy support fit the bill quite well.  I used three defilers with indirect fire and a basilisk.  Pair those heavy hitters with a wall of Rhinos from my troops and HQ there was some major damage to had on game days.  After playing Tyranids for so long, the Iron Warriors were just what the doctor ordered.  My named character, Warsmith Proteus, was a recently fallen space marine that had joined Perturabo's forces ag...

Gamer Utilities!!

Posted by William Durall on Thursday, February 10, 2011, In : Warhammer 40K
I'm not talking about water works or the electric company, sorry Monopoly enthusiasts, I'm talking about programs that help gamers.  Today I'd like to bring attention to a couple programs from a company named Wolflair.
These programs are practically essential for gamers.  The first is Army Builder, it has been around for quite a while and has just gotten better with age.  While I've used Army Builder primarily with Games Workshop products like Battlefleet Gothic, Warhammer Fantasy, and Warha...

Volkswagen is down with the Force?

Posted by William Durall on Wednesday, February 2, 2011, In : Technology
I caught wind of Volkswagen's Super Bowl commercial today and had to share it.  I laughed so hard I had to share it with the rest of the family.  It reminded me of a long time ago in a galaxy....wait, sorry...it reminded me of when I was a kid and I'd tie a towel around my shoulders and pretend to be a super hero or wave a stick around pretending to be a jedi.  Good times!!
I hope you enjoy.

RvB2: Most Impressive!!

Posted by William Durall on Friday, January 28, 2011, In : Technology
Ryan Wieber has once again amazed us with this newest saber battle video.  I have got to say the fight choreography is amazing!!  The effects as usual are superb, and look closely at the props.  The sabers featured in this video are from Ryan Wieber's own Sabershop, you've got to go and check out these great sabers.  Perfect for dueling, accenting a costume, or making your own fan film soar over the top these sabers are a fans dream come true.

Without further ado, heeeerrreee's the video:

Rebel Rec Room Dio Pic

Posted by William Durall on Friday, January 21, 2011, In : Toys
Finally got around to taking a dio pic.  This one is centered around a group of Alliance pilots hanging out between missions.  They are kicking back having a couple drinks, playing some games, and it kinda looks like the Admiral might be hitting on one of the pilots.  I've used a few of Marauder John's dio accessories in here as well.

I worked on this the other day, I think I'm about happy with it.  Not sure if I'll use it for anything else, but I figured I'd share it.

Time To Resupply!!

Posted by William Durall on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, In : Toys
I'm in the process of making an order to Marauder John for some weapons and dio accessories.  I'm super stoked.

In the mean time I'm going to pull out some of the other stuff I've gotten from Marauder John to show off.

They've got some great products, can't wait to share with everyone!!

While you're waiting go checkout Marauder John's site.

An Idea, Or A Waste Of Time....

Posted by William Durall on Monday, January 3, 2011, In : Toys
Either way I thought it was pretty cool.  Course I made it so I should :D.

At any rate I've been wanting to do a continuous dio-story, something that encompassed all the action figures that I collect.  I think this may be it.  I did what ended up being a teaser pic for it, I'm not going to go too much into detail about it til I get some of the dioramas done and am able to start posting some pics.

Should be interesting if it gets off the ground.

Happy New Year!!

Posted by William Durall on Saturday, January 1, 2011, In : Toys
Happy New Year Everyone!!  Here's to a bright new year of family and friends, love and compassion, wisdom and success.

Things are starting to slow down here at the homestead, although I know it'll start rolling again soon.  Christmas was great, hanging out with some friends, and celebrating with family at home.  My son loved it, several Star Wars toys and video games now in his clutches the galaxy is definitely not safe.

I know I've been a bit lax on our diorama project.  I've still not forgott...

Narceron is right...for once...err again...lol

Posted by William Durall on Sunday, November 14, 2010,
Well kind of at least.  Narceron stated earlier on his blog a comment about me giving into my tv watching...not exactly.  Just life in general.  We've been working on cleaning things up around the house, inside and out, making room and such.  Plus my son is pursuing his acting career, or at best he's a rock lobster in Alice In Wonderland Jr.  He's doing pretty well.  I am both proud and somewhat surprised that he is willing to be in front of bunch of people singing and dancing.  You never kno...

Cantina Dio, Getting Started

Posted by William Durall on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, In : Toys
Okay, I was planning on posting this yesterday but the stove broke and that just put a general damper on the whole day.  Good news is as far as we know it is fixable, which is much cheaper than replacing it.

That aside, I have gotten some odd and end Star Wars, G.I. Joe, and Warhammer 40K parts together to use on the "serving table" for no better name.  It will be the table that the bartender fixes the drinks from and serves them in the cantina. I've take a picture of these parts.  I've figure...

Da Bank, a small town dio

Posted by William Durall on Monday, October 4, 2010, In : Toys
Here is an excerpt from Simon's, Narceron,  blog.  Click the link to read the rest and see his pics.

"So I'm working on this 1/18th scale town for my son.  I don't want it to be a model, per se, but rather something he can play with when he's old enough to do that sort of thing.  I am impressed by modern action figures, but their playsets are just zero fun.  I don't think these need to be accurate, or even complete buildings, just little stepping stones for his imagination...."

Customizer's Challenge!!

Posted by William Durall on Monday, October 4, 2010, In : Toys
Every once in a while me and my friends get the idea that we should have a customizing competition, more of a challenge really.  That time has come around again.

Usually our challenges have revolved around customizing Star Wars and G.I. Joe action figures, more or less a marathon doing several in a short period of time.  The last one proved to be just too much though.  The quality of the customs, mine at least, were lacking and the fun value had slipped away.  But this time, its slightly dif...

Netflix is Awesome!!

Posted by William Durall on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, In : Technology
I recently read a news article about Netflix.  I felt that this guys was a little late to the party, but basically Netflix is amazing.  For less that $10 a month I can stream movies and tv shows through my laptop, Xbox 360, and even my Wii.

And, oh yeah, there is the whole one DVD out at a time for that price, which honestly half the time I forgot about.  There is just so much to watch on Netflix, and for that price I have to ask myself why do I need my satellite tv?

The iSurf News article I re...

Its been a long while

Posted by William Durall on Saturday, September 12, 2009, In : Battlestar Galactica
Many hated the ending to Battlestar, some liked it.  I think we all had some kind of trouble with it.

One of the biggest problems was what was up with Starbuck, who or what was she.  I have a very convoluted theory which I will try to share next blog.  As for right now looking back Ellen being the fifth makes some sense, even if the writers threw darts to pick the five.

At any rate, here's to hopefully keeping this blog up and going.

Battlestar Mystery: Final Cylon

Posted by William Durall on Saturday, December 20, 2008, In : Battlestar Galactica

Ron Moore and gang has us all tied up in the mystery of who the final Cylon is.  And we've all got our guesses.  Mine originally was Geata or Zarek.  However the more time passes the more flawed I think this idea is, I believe these two characters may just be red herrings.  And from what I've read around the net the favorite is Dualla, I think this is mostly to bring Leoben's prophecy true.  But I think this isn't right either.

Number Three had asked for the 4 Cylons, cause there were onl...
